Does wood count as fiber? A miter saw as scissors? Here is a picture of my latest creative endeavor in progress:
My oldest daughter, Jodi, and her husband, Darren, are successful entrepreneurs in the automotive business. They own Lee Myles Transmissions and Autocare and Genesis Automotive in Reading, PA. Jodi wanted a unique reception area for their guests. She found and purchased an old, curved reception counter from Craig’s List, as well as free wood lathe that her children, Kyle and Joanna, rubbed and stained. Add one crazy momma/grandma, and a new herringbone counter front begins to appear!!! Kyle and I became masters of the 45 degree angle and admirable Tom Sawyers before this project was over! Jodi and Joanna wanted to get in on the act one evening, and were silly enough to challenge us to a setting/hammering duel. Needless to say, Kyle and my prowess remains unmatched. LOL Yes, there is nothing in the world like the joy of sharing — even hard work!! — with family!
The counter front is now awaiting the completion of the waiting room itself (hopefully Labor Day weekend!), as is this little beauty, the custom made chandelier made from clutch rings and fly wheels salvaged from the shop and welded together by none other than yours truly!!! AND the Beemer Bench!!!!
I had such a great time putting these things together for them! I can’t wait to see it all pulled together in the shop!! (I’m sure they can’t wait either!! They have been working toward this remodel for quite some time!)
Wishing you fun and creative times with family and friends, too!!!
With love from Carla
(… and my little welding buddy who now occupies a special place on the conference room shelf at Genesis Automotive!)
