Wow! So much has happened since I last posted to this blog! I have been blessed to have my work be included in a whirlwind of art shows, both domestically and internationally. LOTS to be thankful for this year!!! The experiences, both good and some maybe not so good, all have helped me grow as an artist and I love it.
My tiny little piece, Secrets of the Caribbean, garnered lots of attention yesterday at the World of Threads Fiber Festival in Toronto Canada. A butterfly came to visit!!!
What made it so unusual was that the work was inside a plexiglass case! Guess I achieved a measure of realism, eh? That butterfly surely was convinced! LOL
With Colors in Korea, Genesis and Refreshing both in the PMA Craft Show, and Renewal soon to be hung in the Making Marks exhibit at the Wayne Art Center in Philadelphia, this emerging artist feels like my creative life has erupted!!!!
So what’s next? My upcoming solo exhibition at the Lieberman Gallery (inside the Settlement Music School at Germantown, PA) in February! The show will be hung in mid-Feburary, and I will be doing an artist’s talk in conjunction with the music school’s recital on Sunday, February 26. If you are in the area, I hope you will make plans to attend.
So today I have been playing with copper wire and thread. A girl’s gotta have bling, and the shiny surface of this copper wire just sucked me in!
Using it with thread is proving to be a fun challenge!!! Stay tuned! I’ll let you know how sewing with/to it works out!
Until next time,
