The Day Has Finally Arrived!
Have you ever planned an event for in the future and it was planned and thought about and mentioned so many times about it happening in the future….and then suddenly the day was finally here and it just doesn’t seem real? The art show I was invited to attend in September of 2015 is happening now!!
I am so happy to share with you a few pictures of this fantastic journey I am on in Seoul, South Korea. This is the International Fiber Fest. I am one of 55 invitation only emerging and “seasoned” artists to be a part of this event. What an honor!!!
Upon arrival in Korea, I was struck by how clean Seoul is! And the Asian chaotic discipline is not just a stereotype! Walt Disney would have been proud of the People Movers! Upon arrival, there was no shuttle to the hotel we take for granted. Instead, the mercy of a sweet Korean young lady ensured a proper bus ticket was procured.
Day One — Installation Day
Today the work of installation of all the artwork began. It is amazing how good I have become with a hammer and a screw driver over the past couple of years! Lol In fact, I became the woman of the day, I do believe, when everyone found out I had brought along nails, screws, pins, a hammer, and a screwdriver! It is amazing the number of new best friends I gained! Lol
Among the mechanics of pulling off a large international show is the high cost of shipping. When that proved such a huge issue, Pat and Mikyoung Lee helped me locate and purchase plexiglass framing from Mr Kim in Seoul. They delivered it right to the Seoul Art Museum for me. It was fabulous! Thank you, Mr Kim!
Then there was lunch with new friends…
… and wonderful moments of laughter!
As we were headed to catch the bus for the hotel after installations, one of the artist saw the sign on the side of the Seoul Art Center building. We couldn’t resist!
Y’all came now, hear?!?
See you tomorrow!
